Use this notice for the July 21, 2023 Apple certificate issue affecting older native ROES Desktop launch.dmg installers.

Overview
Apple caused a security-recognition issue with older native-installed ROES applications after erroneously revoking the certificate used to sign older .dmg files. Because of this, users may see a warning that the ROES application will harm their computer. New native install launch.dmg files are being regenerated for each branded ROES Desktop launch.
Who Is Affected
- Customers using an older native-installed ROES Desktop app on macOS.
- Customers launching ROES from an app installed from an older launch.dmg.
- Labs that host their own branded ROES launch.dmg files.
- Users who need to run ROES immediately while updated native installers are being regenerated.
Important
Customers should reinstall from a freshly created launch.dmg and replace the current application when prompted. Older downloaded .dmg files should not be reused.
Customer Steps
Download the freshly created launch.dmg
Use the lab’s current ROES launch page to download the newly regenerated launch.dmg.
Run the installer
Open the new launch.dmg and proceed through the native install process.
Replace the current application when prompted
When macOS or the installer prompts to replace the existing ROES application, choose the option to replace it with the newly installed version.
Lab Steps
Replace self-hosted launch.dmg files
If the lab hosts launch.dmg files on its own site, pull the newer file from the ROES-hosted site late Friday or early Saturday and replace the older hosted file.

Customers may be directed to the hosted launch configuration index page: www.roeslaunch.com/ROES/labs/labnamefolder/
Use the Java launch option as an alternate path
On the same index page, users can use the Java version and launch.jnlp with the instructions in the lower half of the page.

Expected Result
After reinstalling from the freshly generated launch.dmg, the ROES Desktop application should launch without the macOS certificate warning caused by the older revoked certificate.
Escalation Notes
- Confirm whether the user installed from an older downloaded .dmg.
- Confirm whether the lab hosts its own launch.dmg or uses the ROES-hosted launch page.
- Confirm the branded ROES Desktop launch configuration or lab folder name.
- If the warning persists after reinstall, confirm that the replacement app came from the freshly regenerated installer.
