Product: ROES Template Tool Category: Shipping / Tax Audience: Lab / Support Article ID: 102
Common need
A pickup shipping method needs a full fulfillment-location address so tax is calculated correctly on pickup orders.

Overview

In order for proper tax to be calculated on a pickup shipping method, that method needs a nexus_location. The nexus_location contains the full address of the lab or fulfillment location.

The sample zip file includes a readme and a sample nexus_location that can be copied into the pickup shipping method in the lab’s current template file.

Reference Files and Links

  • Sample File

  • ZIP + 4 Lookup
Use this to look up the ZIP+4 value when needed.

Address Formatting Notes

  • Change the sample values to the lab or fulfillment-location address.
  • Do not use periods or special characters in the address.
  • The state must be two digits/characters.
  • The country is always US.
  • The ZIP value needs to be ZIP+4.

Solution

1

Download and extract the sample file

Download the Sample File zip, then extract the readme and sample pickup_nexus.xml file.

2

Change the sample values to the lab address. Do not use periods or special characters. Use a two-character state, country US, and ZIP+4. Use the ZIP + 4 Lookup link if needed.

6

Add nexus_location to other pickup methods as needed

Copy the modified nexus_location and paste it onto any other pickup shipping methods that need pickup tax calculation.

7

Save, upload, and test

Save and upload the modified template file. Place a pickup test order and confirm proper tax is calculated.

Alternative: salestax Attribute

Alternatively, a specific tax rate can be set on any shipping method with the salestax attribute. A value of 10 would represent 10%.

Expected Result

Pickup shipping methods should include a complete nexus_location with the lab or fulfillment-location address, and pickup orders should calculate tax correctly after the modified template file is uploaded.

Escalation Notes

  • Confirm the pickup shipping method contains nexus_location.
  • Confirm the lab or fulfillment address has no periods or special characters.
  • Confirm state is two characters and country is US.
  • Confirm the ZIP value is ZIP+4.
  • Confirm the modified template file was saved and uploaded.
  • If using salestax, confirm the intended rate and the exact value placed on the shipping method.
